Without missing a beat!

I think today was the first time that I have laughed with my students this year. And I had a pretty hard time pulling myself together.  We are teaching antonyms this week and have been making a running chart of antonyms we know.  Today we were starting with the word giant (as in big, huge, large...).

Mrs. Tatum: What is the opposite, or an antonym, for giant?
Student #1: That's easy, leprechaun.

That kid did not miss a beat before answering and I couldn't help laughing. Then the kids started laughing. And it was all a ruckus for half a minute, then I hear this.

Student #2: Um, Mrs, Tatum, why are we laughing?

I had no response.  Sometimes things are just funny.

Happy Thursday!
